NCTC/ACA Independent Cable Show, MONTEREY, CA – July 30, 2007 – SES AMERICOM, an SES company (Euronext Paris and Luxembourg stock exchanges: SESG), today announced that CableOne and Cox Communications are among the latest U.S. cable operators to join SES AMERICOM’s popular triple-feed antenna program, which enables operators to easily access new, compelling high definition (HD) programming via the company’s HD-PRIME service These new members join a ‘who’s who’ list of premier cable operators, including Comcast, Bresnan Communications, Brighthouse Networks, RCN and many independent operators.
The triple-feed antenna program provides qualified cable operators – at no cost – with new satellite antennas and associated equipment at each of their headends, to receive programming via three SES AMERICOM satellites. These satellites include the company’s newest, AMC-18, and are all key members of the HD-PRIME service, which delivers HD programming to cable networks throughout the U.S.
“HD-PRIME is the premier platform for HD, and our triple-feed antenna program helps top-tier and independent cable operators get more from the service and expand their HDTV offerings to meet growing subscriber demand for more HD programming,” said Bryan McGuirk, President of Media and Enterprise Services for SES AMERICOM. “This program also benefits programmers by ensuring that AMC-18 is an ideal platform for delivering more HD programming as they expand their channels.”
Qualified operators who join the program are provided triple-feed antennas manufactured by Patriot Antenna Systems, which manufactures its satellite reflectors from stretch-formed aluminum to ensure highly accurate antenna surfaces for optimal reception. Depending on the location of their headends, operators will be equipped with a 3.8 meter, 4.5 meter or 5.0 meter PATRIOT antenna fitted with the triple-feed receiving assembly
“Meeting the increased demand for our antennas generated by SES AMERICOM’s triple-feed antenna program is not an issue, as our efficient production processes enable Patriot to increase production without compromising product quality,” said Steve Pokornicki, Director of Sales for Patriot Antenna Systems. “Complementing our production capabilities, we have over 300,000 square feet of warehouse space which allows us to stock and supply any of these recently signed on cable operators.”
